NFA transfers for silencers are dead
The Court ruling striking down the national farms act for everything except machine guns and destructive devices, that means silencers, short barrel rifles, short barrel, shotguns, etc, went into effect yesterday.
That means these items transfer with just a background check 4473. Additionally, silencers do not qualify as firearms under the New Mexico waiting. Law, so it's Cash and Carry once you pass the background check
It appears that the form 4 transfer process is now voluntary. And you may want to actually go through that. If you ever intend to transport affected item in States like Colorado that make them illegal come unless they're registered with the federal government.
